Wildlife Carers are a network of trained volunteers licensed by NSW National Parks and wildlife Service.  We rescue rehabilitate and release injured, sick orphaned and unwanted native fauna,  If you need assistance with a native animal please contact us by email. or ring 1800-008-290

If you find an injured or orphaned native animal, handle it as little as possible, follow the simple animal first aid steps and call 1800-008-290

New England Strategic Alliance of Councils

The New England Strategic Alliance of Councils (NESAC) was formed in 2004 following discussions between Armidale Dumaresq Council, Guyra Shire Council, The New England Weeds Authority, Uralla Shire Council and Walcha Shire Council.

The New England Strategic Alliance is meeting the challenges of Local Government reform with a new IT-based efficiency and performance measurement system. 

 

Citizens Wildlife Corridors

Citizen's Wildlife Corridors Armidale Inc CWC) is an incorporated not-for-profit environmental conservation organisation that works at the "grass roots" to help private landholders manage nature and establish on-farm and regional wildlife corridors. CWC members are conserving local and regional biodiversity and ecological processes, through community education and voluntary efforts of private landholders and dedicated professionals.
 

 

Southern New England Landcare Local graziers Tim and Karen Wright from Balala, and the Lower Apsley River Landcare Group from Walcha, are finalists in the 2008 National Landcare Awards on Thursday 23rd October in Canberra. This year, Australian Icon Jack Thompson will be handing over a special ‘People’s Choice’ award, which will be chosen by ordinary Australians. New England Sustainability Strategy
On 26th August 2008 The New England Strategic Alliance of Councils launched a pioneering initiative to develop a sustainability strategy for the New England Region.

This is a significant act of leadership and while the goal is to develop a strategy that is regionally relevant, this result would also be globally significant for region wide strategies for sustainability are still in their infancy.

A new consortium called the New England Sustainability Strategy Executive (nicknamed NESSiE) was awarded the contract and has analysed the current sustainability of our Region, held a public forum and released a documentary on the work done to date.

Environmental Defenders Office
The Environmental Defenders Office are independent community environmental law centres dedicated to protecting the environment in the public interest.

They provide legal representation and advice, take an active role in environmental law reform and policy formulation, and offer a significant education program designed to facilitate public participation in environmental decision making.
